![]() ![]() WMV format contains a large quantity of video and audio information in smaller storage spaces. There are several advantages of using the WMV format over other formats. Other formats, such as MPEG-4 and AVS, still compete successfully, however. Thus, the WMV video format has excellent widespread support. Once SMPTE standardized Windows video format, WMV became one of the three video formats for Blu-ray video discs (BD-ROM). Another major purpose was to devise a media format that could be used for streaming videos over the Internet. The basic purpose of developing WMV was to develop a media format that can be uniformly supported by all the Microsoft -supported devices and operating systems. WMV9 was standardized in 2006 as SMPTE 421M, also known as VC-1. Microsoft submitted the WMV9 version for standardization purposes to SMPTE in 2003. Two additional versions, WMV8 and WMV9, added improvements. The initial version of this Windows media format, WMV7, was built on Microsoft’s MEG-4 Part 2. In 1999, Microsoft developed a new compressed video format to hold video encoded with several proprietary codecs. Microsoft Windows Media Video format is a compressed video format based on Microsoft’s Advanced Systems Format (ASF) container format. WMV file format is part of the larger Windows Media framework. Currently, several physical file formats, such as HD DVD and Blue Ray Disc, are using WMV format as the default format for media information storage. The Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers ( SMPTE) initially standardized the WMV format. WMV is basically a container format developed by Microsoft that is used to hold several audio-video codecs developed by Microsoft and to run on Microsoft – supported operating systems and machines. We had the material for the film but to properly finish it was outside what we could bankroll on our own. Then, there was entering film festivals, renting locations and so on. We also wanted to tour the film but the costs of creating a master film were quite high. Software costs, licensing music, and mixing audio were starting to add up. In the summer of 2012, we completed the filming for the documentary but still needed to finish editing it. ![]() While I had slapped up a campaign on my website a year before and raised $10,000, it was clear how quickly the tide had turned in just 12 months. Their film is very similar to ours and they write in the same niche. Just a year earlier, two popular travel bloggers tried to raise merely $6,000 via Indiegogo for their film. Two years later, we raised the additional $37,406 via Kickstarter and it was completely different. Then I hoped it would come.īecause of my timing, the topic of the film and just good luck, I made my goal. In fact, the way I went about raising funds in that first round was very naïve. We succeeded in raising money years ago because it was our first attempt and people had been reading me for two years and just wanted to support the site. There have been so many campaigns since then. We didn’t have a video and it took me two months to raise all the funds.īack then, my blog had around 100,000 unique visitors a month and 10,000 subscribers.ĭo I think I could repeat that success again today with that same-sized platform? I am skeptical. Kickstarter started in 2009, but when I raised our first series of funds, it was entirely through my website. ![]() I raised a little over $10,000 to buy the video and audio equipment for the film.Īt that time, I had several advantages: crowdfunding was relatively new, it was a project that was very close to the subject of my blog, I had already written three eBooks (one of them was specifically about how to work online and travel and had appeared just before the crowdfunding effort) and I had a large mailing list. The first round was on my website in 2010. I’ve been through two rounds of funding for this film. The film is coming out this spring, after many delays.īut as I am putting together the spring film tour, I have some thoughts about Kickstarter, how other travel writers and bloggers can use the platform, and some of the hype and pitfalls around the concept of crowdfunding. ![]() NB: This is a viewpoint by Christine Gilbert, who runs the travel blog Almost Fearless. In August 2012, I raised $37,406 via crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to fund a documentary that my husband had been working on about people who travel the world and work remotely. ![]() ![]() Later in the video you will see that just beating Switch-Back takes me 36 minutes and that is one of the easiest maps in the game. PTZ control from NR/HE done via web request node urls. I run Synology surveillance station and they work with that. They are ok but not the best and not fully ONVIF compliant but close enough to work with other systems.Īgreed I have a couple of them, good price point, decent image/compatibility. You draw a line for a boundary and if a object of a defined size or larger that you specify crosses the line then it triggers the event. Another route that can be used with Analytic capable cameras are “line cross”. Now you “can” get very sophisticated and expensive cameras that do a lot more, but not really necessary for this type of event. If it’s relatively the size of a person then it matches the person detection… same for vehicle. It’s not really a complex or complicated algo as it’s based off of image differences and “size of” the object within the different frames. This is where I recommend a camera with built in Analytics (marketed as AI) for object detection. Most of the motion sensor capabilities in cameras and software are based from image differences and light/shadows trigger the motion. It can and often does create a loop of the lights turning on/off/on/off until day time. Someone walks up to the door to have the light turn on/up. Before picking out a camera I’d pick out the NVR system whether it’s software or hardware based and purchase supported cameras around that system so you can take advantage of all of the features the system offers. I’m sure there are many other favorites.įor cameras I don’t like going cheap because that’s what you get. Nobody likes shadows or outdoor lights at night triggering a motion event which turns on the lights and now you have a loopĪnyways, that’s some info on Software NVR’s. Object detection is great and you’ve used it likely with Wyze for people vs vehicle detection. Examples are line crossing, loitering, object detection which is the best of them. When paired with a supported camera the Analytic events handle the heavy lifting directly on the camera and not the server. One of the best parts of DW Spectrum is a very good integration with built in Analytics from many vendors (big list). The features are very abundant and don’t require any additional licensing. DW Spectrum is resource medium and does not hog up a whole system which is nice. However you can test/play with all of the features. The gotcha is that recording requires a license and the motion detection (software based) is tied to the license. The software itself is free to download and use from the DW website. This is a professional grade NVR software which is also available as an “appliance”. Next up is what I’m currently running at home and what I deploy for customers. The event capabilities and software features (modules) are abundant and it can serve wide ranges of home and commercial uses. ![]() The software is also available for Windows and Linux. The benefit of Xeoma is that it can run on a raspberry Pi if you want with an external HDD of course. Xeoma pricing can get expensive depending on the number of cameras you’re looking at. It has all the features one would expect/want of an NVR plus with the ability to fire events via HTTP or MQTT for integration with other systems.Ī lesser known NVR is from Felena Soft. However unless it’s tuned well it can be a big resource hog. Do you want to run a sever for the camera NVR or do you want it self-contained? A few of the software NVR systems I’ve used and deploy.īlue Iris is a very popular and capable Windows based software NVR. ![]() First, look at all paths in 4-D space-time between A and B, and find the space-time path that takes the shortest time to traverse. Although the timeline is not consistent, it appears to start with the development of a hyperdrive from a theoretical construct by The Brain, a positronic supercomputer built by US Robots. Hyperspace seems to enable teleportation on a pre-calculated route, the ends of which are in normal space. 4.2 The concept of traveling between stellar systems via the hyperspace drive or "jump" is described or mentioned in several of Isaac Asimov's short stories and novels written from the 1940s through to the 1990s.4 Popular depictions in science fiction.Hyperspace travel is nevertheless a fictional technology.Īuthors may develop alternative names for hyperspace in their works, such as the Immaterium (used in Warhammer 40 000), slip space in the Halo universe, Z space in Animorphs, or "Underspace", commonly referred to in the works of Neal Asher. Spacecraft able to use hyperspace for FTL travel are sometimes said to have a hyperdrive.ĭetailed descriptions of the mechanisms of hyperspace travel are often provided in stories using the plot device, sometimes incorporating some actual physics such as relativity or string theory in order to create the illusion of a seemingly plausible explanation. Hyperspace is sometimes used to enable and explain faster than light (FTL) travel in science fiction stories where FTL is necessary for interstellar travel or intergalactic travel. Travel in hyperspace is frequently depicted as faster-than-light travel in normal space. It is typically described as an alternate region of space co-existing with our own universe which may be entered using an energy field or other device. About This Game The Ultimate Prison Sandbox! Overall, I loved the Hellraid DLC and it was a great addition to the Dying Light story. This could limit the replay value for some people, but Techland plans on continuing to build out the content and levels available over time, which will help alleviate that issue. It took me a couple hours to make it through Ba’al’s Tower, and I’m sure a more seasoned Dying Light player could beat it much faster. In such a great and unique DLC to an already fantastic game, there wasn’t any part of the gameplay itself that I didn’t love. It kept me alive many times, and always kept the runners at bay. If you end up picking up the DLC, try out the head smasher and you will not be disappointed. The weapons carry a very medieval look, and they fit perfectly in the more fantasy tone that this DLC carries. However, my favorite part had to be the new weapons introduced with the Hellraid DLC. These skeleton warriors span different abilities from bare bones, regular enemies that carry swords to armored versions and even some that have magical powers like shooting lightning. They are these different versions of skeleton warriors that spill out of portals placed at different points in the dungeon. Many of the same enemy classes from the main game are brought over into Hellraid like running zombies, but there are a handful of characters unique to this game mode. A distinctive Hellraid style is brought to the hordes of enemies in the dungeons. From there, you drop down into the well to initiate your journey to find the 3 parts of the Clavis stone.Įven though the style of the characters and the interactions you have are built from the Dying Light section of the game, Techland did a fantastic job of making Hellraid feel like a unique part of the game. This transports you to the world of Hellraid and it starts in an eerie room that only contains a well in the center and a chest that holds the items you pick up in the dungeon. ![]() As opposed to the other DLCs that are initiated from the main menu, Hellraid appears as a vintage appearing arcade game that is housed on the bottom floor of the tower. The gameplay is very similar to the Dying Light main game (duh), but Hellraid is more of an arcade game mode as opposed to the free roam style of your journey around Harran. The Hellraid DLC takes the fantastic fight mechanics from Dying Light and puts a fantasy spin on them as you storm a dungeon trying to unravel the secrets of Ba’al’s Tower and fight a horde of monsters from hell. Techland built a first person reality in the city of Harran that captured the desperation and the horror of trying to survive a city overrun by infected people. In 2015, Dying Light came out and showed a dramatically real circumstance for a zombie apocalypse. gamers are female, up from 33 percent in just five years.įrom January through August of 2008 females ages 18 to 45 made up 28 percent of the total industry revenue, ranking second to males ages 18 to 45, who made up 37 percent. “The gaming industry has market characteristics that many would die for.”Īccording to IBISWorld, 38 percent of U.S. Girls and young women are a “pot of gold” for the industry, said George VanHorn, senior analyst at market research firm IBISWorld.
